Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia reported 1,579 COVID-19-related deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total death toll recorded in the country so far to 112,198, according to data released by the Health Ministry.

The highest number of deaths were recorded in East Java (431), followed by Central Java (350), West Java (120), East Kalimantan (64) and Riau (55).

Meanwhile, the number of active cases or patients receiving treatment and conducting self-isolation increased by 30,625 across Indonesia.

Central Java contributed the highest number of active cases at 4,980, followed by West Java (3,174), East Java (2,885), Jakarta (1,967), East Kalimantan (1,843).

A total of 39,931 people recovered from COVID-19 on Wednesday, with West Java recording the highest number of recoveries at 8,120, followed by Central Java (6,863), East Java (4,275), Yogyakarta (3,378), East Kalimantan (1,928).

The number of specimens tested as of Wednesday were recorded at 210,815, ministry data showed.
