Cibinong, W Java (ANTARA) - The Bogor District COVID-19 Handling Task Force will commence vaccination services for teenagers at the Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday

"We will start vaccinations for teenagers this Thursday. Some five thousand participants are invited," Bogor District Head and Head of the Bogor District COVID-19 Handling Task Force Ade Yasin stated here on Wednesday.

Yasin informed that teenagers that had yet to register in the vaccination program at the Pakansari Stadium can partake in the vaccination schedule at the regional level.

Yasin remarked that her side is currently expediting vaccination in 40 sub-districts across Bogor District in order to achieve the Central Government’s target to vaccinate 70 percent of its population, or 4.2 million people.

The Bogor district head expressed gratitude to all parties for their assistance in accelerating vaccination in her area. The Bogor District COVID-19 Task Force has, so far, administered only some 800 thousand vaccine doses, or some 9.5 percent of the target population.

"It is impossible for us to organize it (the vaccination) on our own without the help of other parties, including the ministry, TNI, and Police," Yasin emphasized.

The task force head revealed that in August, each sub-district in Bogor District was targeting to administer 8,575 doses of vaccine on a weekly basis.

Earlier, the Health Ministry gave the go-ahead to those in the age bracket of 12 to 17 years to get vaccinated by issuing Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/I/1727/2021 on the third phase of vaccination for vulnerable people and the general public, as well as vaccinations for those in the age group of 12 to 17 years.

In a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19 and build herd immunity, the Indonesian government launched a nationwide vaccination program on January 13, 2021, with President Joko Widodo being the first recipient.
