Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo reviewed vaccinations of students at state junior high school SMP Negeri 3 Mejayan, Madiun, East Java, and door-to-door vaccinations in the region on Thursday.

The vaccinations were organized by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

"This morning I witness the vaccination program, both for those in schools and door to door carried out by BIN," Widodo said in an online press statement, which was released on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, from Jakarta on Thursday.

He said he expected the program implemented by the State Intelligence Agency to run well in the provinces.

"Especially, I really praise the door-to-door (vaccination) program. Because this is visiting the community and the villages," he remarked.

He said that the door-to-door vaccination program is a good service to the community, adding he expected school and door-to-door vaccinations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

On Thursday, he also reviewed student vaccinations in a number of other areas via video conferencing -- state senior high school (SMA Negeri) 1 Medan, North Sumatra; Islamic School (Madrasah) Arifah Gowa, South Sulawesi; SMA Negeri 1 Batang Anai, West Sumatra; Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Bontang, East Kalimantan; SMA Negeri 11 Depok, West Java; state junior high school (SMP Negeri) 5 Semarang, Central Java; Pandanaran Islamic Boarding School, Sleman, Yogyakarta; SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru, Riau; and Al Mubarokh Islamic Boarding School Serang, Banten.
