Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry identified several companies in the essential sector eligible for a full operation trial during the imposition of level 4, 3, and 2 of public activity restrictions in Java and Bali.

Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated in Jakarta on Friday that several requirements had to be fulfilled by the companies to secure permission for the full operation trial, such as possession of the Operation Permit and Mobility of Industrial Activities (IOMKI) and submitting their reports.

In addition, the company located in an area where Level-4 public activity restriction was enforced should have vaccinated their workers and remained committed to complying with health protocols as per Circular Letter of the Industry Ministry Number 3 of 2021 and used the PeduliLindungi application as a screening method.

Kartasasmita expects the companies in essential industrial sector involved in the trial to fully operate during the community activities restriction period and conduct their intended tasks.

"This trial is one of the government's strategies to gradually restore economic conditions, especially the industrial sector, which is in line with the efforts to surmount COVID-19," the minister remarked.

Director General of Regional Resilience and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Industry Ministry, Eko S. A. Cahyanto, visited two automotive and component companies -- PT. Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing and PT. Astra Otoparts -- operating in the essential sector in Jakarta on August 19.

"We think these two companies, which fall in the essential sector category, absorb huge labor force and meet the criteria sufficient to be able to conduct full operational trials," he affirmed.

Cahyanto praised the two companies that had vaccinated nearly all of their employees and had screened people entering and exiting the company's production facilities.

"The companies participating in this trial have consistently fulfilled IOMKI's periodic reporting obligations and implemented health protocols in the industrial environment in accordance with Industry Ministry’s Circular Letter No. 3 of 2021," he stated.

Cahyanto expects the industrial sector, both critical and essential, to operate fully while still complying with health protocols if all these efforts are undertaken and the trials show good results within the next one to two weeks.

"Thus, utilization and productivity of the industrial sector can be increased again, so that it can drive higher contribution and economic growth," he concluded.
