"After yesterday (August 25, 2021), the Sleman district government succeeded in obtaining permits for the opening of shopping centers and malls from the central government, during the PPKM extension period from August 23 to 30. We are also trying to apply for a permit for a trial opening of tourism destinations," Head of the Sleman District Tourism Service Suparmono said on Thursday.
The process of applying for a trial permit for opening tourist destinations will involve inviting several regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in Sleman District to coordinate the possibility of reopening tourist destinations, he informed.
"The Sleman Tourism Service has invited several OPDs related to coordinating the possibility of piloting the opening of tourist destinations. We have also received support from them for the plan to open this tourist destinations," Suparmono remarked.
He said that currently, his office is formulating a draft application for a trial permit for reopening tourist destinations.

"On August 30 (2021), we will plan to raise an official memo regarding the permit for the trial opening of tourist destinations to the head of Sleman District, which will be forwarded to the central government," he informed.
Suparmono said that the memo will propose a trial reopening of several tourism destinations in Sleman, both managed by the Sleman district government and the private sector.
"In addition, tourist destinations in Sleman are also managed by private companies and community groups (Pokdarwis)," he said.
If the trial permit is approved, it could be a starting point for the revival of tourism in Sleman, which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Suparmono said.
