"For COVID-19 vaccination for pregnant women, we have potentially two thousand targets," head of Mataram Health Office, Dr. H Usman Hadi, said in Mataram on Thursday.
Only 11 public health centers and other healthcare facilities are currently eligible to host vaccination programs, he informed. Vaccinations of pregnant women may not be done by integrated health services (posyandu).
In addition, he said, only women who are 17 weeks or more than 17 weeks pregnant are eligible for the COVID-19 shot. After the vaccine is administered, their health condition will be continuously monitored.
"When there are complaints or other symptoms (showing), we will immediately consult with obstetricians," he informed.
The COVID-19 vaccination program for pregnant women is still facing difficulties, such as concern and worry over the possible impact after vaccination. Thus, more counseling is needed to dispel those concerns, he said.
"Currently, public health centers have started to socialize and educate the public, particularly pregnant women, through teams in the villages," he informed.
The Mataram Health Office will even prioritize pregnant healthcare workers in COVID-19 vaccinations, in order to convince pregnant women in general, he said.
