It is an investment that directly impacts the prosperity, success, and advancement of a nation.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga underscored the importance of character education for children in order to prepare quality human resources for the future.
In a press statement here on Monday, Puspayoga outlined that based on the 2020 Citizens Census, one-third of Indonesia's population, or 84.4 million, are children up to 18 years of age.
The minister noted that of that figure, some 38 percent are children up to six years of age, while 36 percent were children in the age bracket of 6-14 years, with most of them attending primary school.
"A strategic and important aspect to focus on is to conduct national development that prioritizes the fulfillment of children's rights," she asserted.

Education institutions, especially kindergartens and primary schools, should professionally provide facilities and infrastructure that support stimulation, learning target, and character education for children.
"Education workers should collaborate with parents to figure out a way to provide an outlet for children's expression that, of course, prioritizes the fulfillment of children's rights," Puspayoga noted.
The minister noted that adults should be able to understand the children's needs and aspirations.

Puspayoga highlighted the readiness of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection to synergize and collaborate in order to ensure that the children's needs were met and that they were protected.
This is done through the initiation of the Child-friendly Education Unit, one of the indicators for the formation of a child-friendly district or city. (
