Pertamina will also continue to support the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) through the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs throughout its operational areas
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned gas and oil company Pertamina has recorded an improvement in 6,731 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that it has mentored in the last three years.

Pertamina's interim senior vice president of corporate communications and investor relations, Fajriyah Usman, said that currently, Pertamina is running nine programs for the empowerment of SMEs to encourage them to upgrade their business.

"Our mentored (MSME) partners will be developed (under the programs), such as UMK Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, or Go Global, according to their business conditions and curation results," Usman informed in a written statement received here on Tuesday.

Forty-four SMEs upgraded their business near the third trimester's end in 2021, she said, adding that at least 120 academy SMEs joined the 2021 program to boost their business.

In 2020, the program helped 795 SMEs to upgrade their business, and in 2019, 535 SMEs were promoted in terms of class, she added. Pertamina's total mentored partners are pegged at 1,886 SMEs, Usman said.

Moreover, the number is also compounded with the partners of 'Rumah BUMN', managed by Pertamina, she said.

Rumah BUMN is a collaboration between Pertamina and the Ministry of SOEs to build a common place for SMEs players to gather, learn, and foster other players at 30 points across Indonesia.

Of the 9,550 Rumah BUMN partners, 50.7 percent, or 4,845, have been declared to have advanced their business, Usman said.

The 4,845 SMEs have been promoted after meeting several criteria, she said.

The criteria include growth in turnover, production capacity, number of workers, acquisition of additional certification and business licenses, marketing expansion, and the involvement of the surrounding community or sociopreneurs in the business ecosystem, she informed.

According to Usman, through the PUMK Program, Pertamina intends to help move the economic wheels. This means that it will provide energy that will fuel the economy as well as sustainable growth, she said.

"Pertamina will also continue to support the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) through the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs throughout its operational areas," she informed.

It is part of its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) for providing economic benefits to society, she added.
