Merauke (ANTARA) - West Java secured a spot in the women's football finals at the XX National Games (PON) in Papua after beating Jakarta, with a convincing 3-0 score, in the semi-final match at Katapal Stadium, Merauke, Saturday.

West Java immediately surprised Jakarta, with a quick goal scored within five minutes through player number 17 -- Rosdilah Siti Nurrohmah -- after taking advantage of the chaos in Jakarta's goal area.

Taken aback by the quick goal, Jakarta responded with an attack on West Java's defense line but failed to create an opportunity until the first 10 minutes of the first half.

In the 13th minute, West Java's players had the opportunity to score another goal through Tia Darti Septiati, but unfortunately, her long-range shot, escorted by Sarah Dzikra Safiyah, missed Jakarta's crossbar.

In the 21st minute, the West Java players attempted to outdo Jakarta's team with a long-range shot, albeit missing the target.

Jakarta, which relied on counterattacks, played aggressively through their main striker Carla Bio Pattinasarany, who would have almost broken into the West Java goal if her shot would not have been blocked by West Java's goalkeeper, Diyana Herliana.

West Java locked up Jakarta's defense in the remaining minutes of the first half. However, the score 1-0 lasted until halftime.

In the second half, Jakarta's players immediately threatened the West Java goal in the early minutes through Carla Bio Pattinasarany, though her shot still stumbled upon the West Java goal.

In the 51st minute, West Java successfully scored the second goal through Helsya Maeisyaroh after her long-range shot failed to be blocked by Jakarta's new goalkeeper, Prihatini.

West Java continued to drill Jakarta's defense, commanded by Shalika Aurelia Viandrisa. Finally, in the 86th minute, player number 17, Rosdilah Siti Nurrohmah, outsmarted Prihatini by scoring a goal for West Java, ending the game with a 3-0 win for West Java.

West Java's women's football team secured its place in the finals of the XX Papua PON while awaiting the winner of the Papua match against Bangka Belitung at 14:30 local time.
