Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Chairperson Marciano Norman confirmed that as of Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 60 international, national, and PON records had been broken during the 20th National Sports Week (PON) in Papua Province.

"During this year's national games, in line with what we expected, many records have been broken," Norman remarked here, Wednesday.

The KONI chairperson expounded that the 60 records comprised three international records broken in weight lifting, 19 national records, and 38 PON records.

Norman gauged that the number of records broken had highlighted the success of this year's Papua PON despite being held amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The measure of success in the context of the PON is whether records were broken. It turns out that despite being held in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, records have been broken," Norman pointed out.
