Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned companies can take a cue from the successful collaboration between Indonesia Cement Group (SIG) and the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry for contributing to the country's development, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir stated.

Thohir delivered the statement during a webinar called "Together We Can Go Further" on Thursday.

"The success of the strategic collaboration between the Indonesia Cement Group and Public Works and Public Housing Ministry will serve as an example for other state-owned companies to contribute to responding to challenges in the country's development in future," he stated here.

The minister lauded the SIG regarding the state-owned enterprises transformation program, as they were one of the state-owned enterprises capable of encouraging everyone to embrace transformation, in particular, through the use of environment-friendly construction products and technologies through partnerships, product innovation, and services to increase added value and competitiveness in future.

Such notion was also cemented in the enterprise's tagline, "Go Beyond Next."

"On this occasion, I laud the collaboration between Indonesia Cement Group and the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry through the use of non-OPC cement and construction solutions, specifically PwrPro products, hydraulic cement of the high early (HE) type, and DynaHome, which is a monolithic wall construction technology for accelerating housing development in Indonesia, in which each housing unit can be built in just one week," Thohir elaborated.

The minister also expressed gratitude for the cement company's hard work.

"I am optimistic that SIG would continue its transformation and innovation to improve (its) operational and financial performance, so that it can provide added value and greater benefits for the people and our beloved Indonesia," Thohir affirmed.

The minister recently highlighted four key outcomes from the current transformation of state-owned enterprises.

First, to ensure that state-owned enterprises can make a consistent and major contribution to development of the country or state. Second, people's lives have changed and so has the digitalization process on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. State-owned enterprises must prepare themselves to compete in the new, different type of market after being acutely impacted by the virus.

The third aspect is observing the effect of transformation of state-owned enterprises on the community, especially for the ultra-micro sector. Fourth, it is important that the subsequent leaders of state-owned enterprises conduct transformation as initiated by their preceding leaders, so as to make the process a sustainable one.
