Jakarta (ANTARA) - Students participating in the Certified Independent Internship and Study (MSIB) program, which is part of the Freedom Campus program, are receiving monetary support from the government while pursuing internships and studies, an official has said.

“It is our responsibility so that the participants get their pocket money. In order for the disbursement to be allocated accordingly, we really urge MSIB participants who have not received their pocket money in August-September 2021 to immediately respond and give the required information," Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Paristiyanti Nurwardani said in a written statement received here on Tuesday.

About 11,300 out of the approximately 12,900 students participating in the program have received monetary support in August and September 2021, he informed. The pocket money has been disbursed gradually since October 21, 2021, she said.

Around 1,600 participants who have not received the funds in August and September 2021 need to submit their credentials so that the money can be allocated immediately, she added.

There are several reasons the funds for August and September 2021 have not been successfully provided to some participants, Nurwardani said.

Around 100 students do not have an account with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) or Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) as per the regulation that they were informed of at the beginning of the program, she explained. Around 1,350 students have provided the wrong account number and another 150 students have entered the wrong Single Identity Number (NIK), she added.

The directorate has asked participants for some time now, via many channels or platforms, to complete or furnish the information needed for fund disbursement, Nurwardani elaborated.

“The pocket money given by the state is meant so that students can focus and be enthusiastic in seeking experience, new knowledge, and networking competencies. Because it uses the state budget, accountability for information as a condition for disbursement is very important," she said.

There are three channels where the program's participants can ask questions or hand out their data, she informed. These are the official Certified Independent Internship and Study electronic mail address subpokja-micro@kemdikbud.go.id, contact numbers of students who are in charge of each company/organization where internships/study are conducted, and the official WhatsApp account of the Directorate General of Higher Education, she said.

The Certified Independent Internship and Study program is part of the Freedom Campus policy which aims to provide opportunities to students to learn and develop themselves through activities outside the classroom for one to two semesters. The activities are also recognized as part of the course.
