"This policy is arranged based on the pandemic situation. The government is striving to adjust the policy by taking into account many aspects,” Irawati noted during an online discussion here, Wednesday.
Irawati explained that the government has continued its efforts to control the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting evaluations on the steps taken for COVID-19 handling.
The Ministry of Transportation also collaborates with various related parties, for instance, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, ministries, institutions, and also the National Defense Force (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), in a bid to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, she remarked.
Irawati noted that the government had held a limited meeting, directly led by President Joko Widodo, for evaluating the implementation of Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
The spokesperson explained that the policy related to travel was prepared by also considering the results of the PPKM evaluation.
“The Ministry of Transportation from the transportation sector makes adjustments based on the update of the COVID-19 condition in Indonesia. Hence, this (policy) is a result of collaboration and coordination,” she noted.
The spokesperson added that conditions related to travel or the people's mobility were decided and implemented to lower the transmission of COVID-19 in the country.
"This is not easy for us. However, so far, the result is quite good. We do not want another spike in cases," she remarked.
