In the short term, the government is still trying to reduce unemployment that had risen and to create an advanced Indonesia
Malang, Jawa Timur (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto targets Indonesia to be in the top ten of the world economy by 2030. "In the short term, the government is still trying to reduce unemployment that had risen and to create an advanced Indonesia. Therefore, the government is planning an economic transformation," Airlangga said in a statement received in Malang, East Java, Thursday.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs made these remarks, followed online in front of University of Muhammadiyah Malang graduates who were followed online and offline at UMM Dome, Tuesday, November 2.

The plan and target to penetrate the top 10 of the global economy would take advantage of the industrial era 4.0 in seven priority sectors, Airlangga noted.

"With this economic transformation plan, we are targeting Indonesia to be in the top ten of the world economy by 2030," he said.

To carry out a structural revolution, it was necessary to implement the Omnibus Law Job Creation Act and developments accompanied by technology and digitalization, Airlangga explained on the occasion.

In addition, the education sector is also considered to be the spearhead of change in the industrial sector by preparing for re-training and re-skilling.

He admitted that for the entrepreneurial sector, Indonesia is still at 3.7 percent. This figure is still being pursued to be increased to five percent.

One of the ways to increase the number of entrepreneurs is to issue a Government Regulation (PP) related to the ease of protection and empowerment of MSMEs, Airlangga noted. The regulation must also contain ways to multiply business incubators.

“My hope is that I can set up incubators at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. That way, the university is able to produce quality entrepreneurs," he said.

Indonesia is in the top ten of the halal industry considering the Muslim population in Indonesia is also high, Airlangga mentioned.

However, the food and beverage industry still dominates halal production.

"The Job Creation Law will also facilitate the halal industry. One of them is related to free halal certificates for entrepreneurs," he said.

For that, there needs to be a strong synergy from various aspects, he said.

"In an effort to improve Indonesia's advanced economy, there needs to be a synergy between the education, industry and media sectors," he said.

Even amid a pandemic, the Indonesian economy could grow up to 7.07 percent and become the highest in the last 16 years, he said. (
