“The arrests of five suspected terrorists in East Java began early today,” Chief of the Public Information Section at the National Police’s Public Relations Division Senior Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The five suspected terrorists are identified by their initials as BA, AAS, AN, RH, and MA. They were arrested in several districts in East Java, such as Bojonegoro, Gresik, Kendiri, and Sumenep.
The arrests of the five suspected terrorists affiliated to the JI terror group in East Java is related to the delivery of firearms and training for JI cadres and military instructors.
“If I am asked about the link between JI in Lampung and JI in East Java, of course, they are linked to one another because in the JI organizational structure, region A and region B are related to one another in terms of fund raising and deployment of personnel, he stated.
Densus 88 found no alms boxes as evidence while arresting suspected terrorists in Lampung.
However, the police are still striving to find information related to JI’s fund-raising activity in East Java.
“No alms boxes were found in East Java, but we will conduct in-depth investigation to check for fund-raising activity,” he remarked.
