Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia intends to use the 2022 G20 Presidency to raise issues that could encourage a more resilient and sustainable economic recovery, according to the Finance Ministry.

This is because G20 is a strategic forum for discussing various economic, finance, and global development challenges, the ministry's Fiscal Policy Agency head Febrio Kacaribu noted here on Wednesday.

Indonesia is ready to shoulder the responsibility of leading over 20 of the world's largest economies to collectively reach egalitarian and sustainable global recovery, he added.

As a part of its G20 Presidency preparations, Indonesia will hold an international conference entitled 'Resilient and Sustainable Economic Recovery' on November 11, 2021.

The event is Indonesia's effort to explore policies to promote productivity and bolster defense as well as security, Kacaribu said.

It is also expected to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth as well as promote environment and partnership as strategic pillars in 2022, he added.

At the international conference, the Indonesian government will invite stakeholders starting from development partners, such as international organizations, to civilian representatives, he informed.

The Finance Ministry will also host research institutions or universities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to collectively develop and strengthen real propositions for determining the agenda of Indonesia's Presidency, he added.

Several activities such as focused group discussions, webinars, consultations, and calls for papers have been carried out to obtain the best inputs from various stakeholders, Kacaribu informed.

"We will continue to ensure that this public dialogue is effective as the government's input to encourage Indonesia's and world's interest in the 2022 Presidency," he affirmed.

With the theme 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger', the G20 nations' financial path in 2022 will be directed toward global ambition and action to recover together and invest for a stronger future, Kacaribu said.

In connection with this, the international conference will focus on three primary challenges: digital transformation to improve productivity, bolstering the quality of human resources post-COVID-19 pandemic, and sustainable finance to encourage inclusive growth, he added.

The conference will be attended by several important figures, such as Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, he informed.

He said the conference will be divided into two sessions: a High-Level Panel on Resilient and Sustainable Economic Recovery as well as a Discussion Panel on Selected Papers from the winners of Call for Papers Road to Indonesia G20 Presidency 2022 competition.
