Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has called on the Aceh provincial government to push ahead with the regional budget absorption as part of the national economic recovery.

"I heard that budget absorption (in Aceh) is quite slow. I think this must be spurred, as government spending is crucial in economic recovery," Amin stated during a meeting at the Aceh Governor's Office on Tuesday.

According to the vice president, regional budget spending can drive national economic growth.

"The role of government expenditure is important in order to encourage national and regional economic growth," he noted.

The vice president has also called on the Aceh government to improve the quality of public services as a condition to ensure the success of bureaucratic reforms and as a barometer of public satisfaction.

"Qualified public service will have an impact by improving public welfare," he added.

Attendees at the meeting comprised Aceh's Regional Secretary Taqwallah; Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian; Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Region and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar; and acting head of the Vice Presidential Secretariat Ahmad Erani Yustika.
