According to data provided by the task force, the number of people receiving the second dose rose by 909,032 on Wednesday, taking the total number of fully vaccinated people to 86,279,716.
Meanwhile, 713,506 citizens received their first jab on Wednesday, bringing the total number of first dose recipients to 132,006,377, it said.
Meanwhile, the number of third dose recipients increased by 3,413 to touch 1,197,579, it added.
The Indonesian government is targeting to inoculate 208,265,720 citizens to achieve community or herd immunity.
So far, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 63.38 percent of the 208,265,720 targeted recipients, as per data from the task force.
Meanwhile, the number of citizens who have been fully vaccinated against the virus has reached 41.42 percent of the total target, the data shows.
Earlier, spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, has urged all regional governments in Indonesia to ramp up coronavirus vaccinations to tackle a surge in cases.
"Vaccination coverage is essential for dealing with the cases surge that is starting to occur. Efforts must be made to achieve it (the target) before the third (COVID-19) spike occurs," he said.
He appealed to the public to not be picky about the vaccine brand used for vaccinations.
The spokesperson emphasized that all vaccines used under the national vaccination program have been approved for safety, quality, and effectiveness, based on tests conducted by the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and monitored by related institutions and professional organizations.
