In a briefing to the head of regional unit (Kasatwil) in Badung District, Bali, President Jokowi reminded that there should be no friction related to Indonesia's presidency at the G20 from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022.
"This is the face of Indonesia, and we are the first developing country to become the chair of G20," President Jokowi affirmed.
The G20 is a global forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union (EU) that covers 60 percent of the world's population and accounts for 80 percent of the world's gross domestic product (GDP) and 75 percent of the global exports.
Leaders of G20 countries -- Indonesia, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, Germany, France. India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Russia, South Africa, Republic of Korea, Turkey, the UK, and the United States -- will be involved in the G20 Summit in Indonesia in 2022.
"We are already in G20, so we must really maintain the honor and trust given to our country, Indonesia. Hence, once again, we have to be really careful," the president noted.
As the holder of the G20 Presidency in 2022, Indonesia will focus on three strategic issues: inclusive health management, digital-based economic transformation, and the transition to sustainable energy.
Some 150 meetings and forums will be held during Indonesia's G20 Presidency.
The meeting was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and other ranks of police officers.
Earlier, President Jokowi had planned to invite G20 leaders to visit mangrove conservation areas in Bali during the 2022 G20 Summit.
The head of state is keen to showcase Indonesia's commitment to restoring and rehabilitating mangrove forests to address the problem of climate change and its impacts.
"I think that commitment is what we will show concretely, as seen in practice. We will invite all 20 heads of state here later," Jokowi remarked after a visit to the mangrove conservation forest in Bali, as seen from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel on Thursday.
"This will demonstrate our commitment to restoring and rehabilitating mangrove forests and restoring peat forests and critical land in our country," he further elaborated.
Mangrove forests are areas that absorb and store carbon emissions, so that they can reduce the level of global warming.
