Likewise, the floodwaters receded that nightPraya, Lombok Tengah (ANTARA) - The Provincial Regional Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), confirmed that the Mandalika Circuit was unaffected by the floods that hit Kuta Village, Pujut Sub-district, on December 6.
The floods, triggered by heavy rainfall and pile of rubbish, clogged the drainage stream.
"The flood puddle was only seen in the neighborhood and not the Mandalika Circuit," Head of the Central Lombok BPBD Ridwan Makruf said on Tuesday.
Based on BPBD's data, the extreme weather was causal to floods in several areas, such as the villages of Kuta, Kateng, and Selong Belanak, owing to the rising sea levels. However, the floods that occurred were not too severe although residents had evacuated amid heavy rains and the overflowing of river water.

Makruf remarked that 300 families were affected by the floods and confirmed that his side was still awaiting the village officials to furnish details on the required assistance.
On a separate occasion, a resident from Kuta Village Amaq Jus stated that the flooding did not last too long. After the piled-up garbage clogged the drainage system, it was removed, and the waters then began to recede, and residents thereafter returned to their normal activities.
"The flooding did not last long and was short-lived," he added.

According to observation from ANTARA's reporters, no water puddles were seen in the residential areas in Kuta Village and the Mandalika Circuit that will soon host the MotoGP 2022 in March.
Only mud and piles of garbage were spotted at several points of the drainage stream that had not been cleaned.
In addition, the activities of residents in Kuta Village had returned to normal. Moreover, normalcy was restored in traffic access at the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) despite presence of traces of mud from flooding on the previous day.
