Indonesia's G20 Presidency encourages collective efforts to improve the world's employment condition for a collective recovery from double disruption of job shift as a result of digitalization or automation accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The employment department of Indonesia's G20 Presidency is expected to be able to encourage joint efforts to improve manpower conditions for a collective recovery, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah stated.

During the virtual opening of the G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) here on Thursday, the minister explained that the employment theme for Indonesia's G20 Presidency is improving manpower conditions for a collective recovery.

"Indonesia's G20 Presidency encourages collective efforts to improve the world's employment condition for a collective recovery from double disruption of job shift as a result of digitalization or automation accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic," she elaborated.

Indonesia will focus on four priority issues, two of which are sustainable job creation in response to the changes within an inclusive working world and job market, and job affirmation for people with disabilities.

The other issues that Indonesia's G20 Presidency will focus on are the development of capacity of human resources for sustainable growth in productivity and adaptive and inclusive protection for workers in response to the ever-changing working world.

During the G20 meeting next year, Indonesia's G20 Presidency should be utilized to the best possible extent to fight for the best interests of the manpower sector, the minister affirmed.

Indonesia's G20 Presidency will be utilized for spurring manpower development at the regional, national, and global levels, she stressed.

This development will be egalitarian, fair, and inclusive for a more crisis-resilient world and a stronger world against digital disruption and climate changes, Fauziyah emphasized.

G20 is a global forum that comprises 19 nations and the European Union (EU). The members of the G20 account for 60 percent of the global population, 80 percent of the global GDP (gross domestic product), and 75 percent of the world's exports.

Indonesia will hold the G20 Presidency until November 30, 2022. It took over the mantle from Italy.
