"The current big enemy comes from changes in the supply chain with market globalization, which is increasingly open, economic disruption that can replace humans with automation, and changes in business opportunities," Thohir said at the online launch of the Indonesian Digital Acceleration Movement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In addition, the world is still facing pressures from the health sector and high mortality due to the pandemic, he noted.
The world is currently facing similar challenges as the protagonists in Marvel films The Avengers and Eternals, he remarked.
Thohir then recalled President Joko Widodo's speech at the World Economic Forum at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, Vietnam in 2018, when he compared the global economic situation to the infinity war and the emergence of Thanos, who wants to destroy the human population, in the film Eternals.
"At that time we needed the Avengers, which consisted of characters like Thor to the Hulk, but if we look at the Endgame (Avengers: Endgame) movie, where the characters die and one of my favorites, Black Widow also died," he said.
Indonesia has also lost many superheroes or figures to the pandemic, he added.
The nation is currently facing a new challenge with a much greater enemy force, like in the film Eternals, where the enemy not only wanted to destroy the Earth, but also the entire galaxy, he said.
"It is the same as Marvel which made universes one to four because the new world must be full of new challenges, it needs new superheroes. We used to talk about Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, now there are far more powerful superheroes, there are Ikaris to Thena because the enemies are also much more powerful," Thohir remarked.
