Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Civil Aviation at the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation will not increase flight capacity during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holiday periods.

To this end, Director-General of Civil Aviation Novie Riyanto noted that his office had issued Circular Letter Number 111 of 2021 on Regulation of Community Mobility by Air Transportation during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year period amid the COVID-19 pandemic, valid from December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022.

"During the Christmas and New Year holidays, no requests were put forth for additional flight capacity or extra flights," Riyanto noted in a statement on Friday.

Riyanto appealed to aircraft operators to continue to increase inspections and ensure that on-duty aircraft and their personnel were suitably qualified.

In addition, the process of returning tickets and handling flight delays must be conducted in accordance with the provisions of delay management with applicable laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, for travel requirements using air transportation during the Christmas and New Year periods, passengers must show a certificate of full dose vaccination and a negative result of RT-Antigen Test taken at most 24 hours.

"The mobility of people, who did not receive the full dose of vaccine or for medical reasons, is temporarily restricted," he stated.

Unvaccinated people planning to travel by modes of air transportation for medical reasons are required to show a negative RT-PCR test conducted at most three days and a certificate from a government hospital doctor.

Meanwhile, the requirements for full-dose vaccines and antigens tests are not applicable for users of transportation modes in the outermost, remote, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

"Children under 12 years of age must show the negative result of RT-PCR test taken at most 3x24 hours," he noted.

Meanwhile, airport and aviation navigation operators were urged to bolster coordination with relevant stakeholders as a precautionary measure against extreme weather in the Indonesian territory.

"We are all optimistic that these year-end holidays would run well. Let us continue to apply strict health protocols, both at the airport and on the plane. Also, obey the applicable rules. Together, we will help to ensure a healthy, safe, and comfortable flight," he said.
