"Some 54 companies, or 19 percent of the exporters were from the MSMEs category, with an export value reaching US$5.56 million, or Rp79.7 billion," Director General of National Export Development of the Trade Ministry Didi Sumedi noted on Thursday.
The products exported comprised fishery and marine products, furniture, handicrafts and home decoration, processed foods, spices, textiles, and textile products.
Meanwhile, Sumedi noted that 81 percent, or 224 exporter companies were non-MSMEs, with an export value of US$2.43 billion, or Rp34.9 trillion.
Products exported include coal, automotive, palm oil, fishery and marine products, textile and textile products, chemical products, bicycles, rubber and rubber products, as well as processed food and beverages.
In addition, furniture, handicrafts and home decoration, steel, plantation products, essential oils, wood and wooden products, footwear, ceramics, pipes, and tin were exported at the end of the year.

"The export destinations for products spread to 58 countries, of which 87 percent are dominated by traditional markets, while 13 percent were to non-traditional countries, such as Poland, Colombia, Pakistan, Cambodia, South Africa, Mexico, Maldives, and Oceania," Sumedi noted.
The trade minister led the release of exports worth Rp 35.03 trillion, or equivalent to US$2.44 billion, from 62 districts and cities in 26 provinces.
Sumedi emphasized that the national economy was starting to recover and should be maintained to accelerate the growth of Indonesia's economy.
"This export release is a collaboration and cooperation of all stakeholders, from the central government to the regional governments and business actors to encourage national economic recovery as well as to improve national export performance. I am optimistic that this export release would motivate the business sector to maintain and expand its export market," the minister added.
