We invite ladies and gentlemen to the Working Group and Engagement Group involved in the digital field to join us in the digital transformation expo, so the benefits from the infrastructure we build in the upstream can be seen in many contexts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has readied the Digital Transformation Expo for the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) event. “We invite ladies and gentlemen to the Working Group and Engagement Group involved in the digital field to join us in the digital transformation expo, so the benefits from the infrastructure we build in the upstream can be seen in many contexts,” Secretary General at the Ministry Mira Tayyiba stated here Thursday,

The ministry was appointed as the director of G20's Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) and for discussions on digital transformation, which is the second of the three priority issues brought up by the Indonesian government in the G20 Presidency.

The three priority issues to be discussed at the G20 meeting are inclusive health, digital transformation, and energy transition.

Three priority issues at the DEWG are recovery and connectivity post-COVID-19; digital literacy and data skills; and cross-border data traffic flow and free data flow conducted with trust.

The existence of DEWG increases the status of the G20 Digital Economy Task Force, which is a sign that G20 member countries agree that digital technology is the development agenda of each country and the world.

"It is a good signal, so there needs to be a consensus of agreements on how we deal with digital technology. The discussion on digital issues only started a few years ago, so it is not the beginning of the G20 because all countries increasingly feel they cannot run away from the digital (world)," Tayyiba stated.

Through the DEWG, G20 member countries will have a clearer and more structured mandate that can increase synergy and discussion on digital issues, she explained.

"The increase will yield stronger commitments, legitimacy, and institutional arrangements for discussion on digital issues under the G20 platform," she highlighted.

The working group will also help avoid duplication in other G20 sectors.

The DEWG Forum is expected to produce something tangible, both for developed and developing countries, Tayyiba pointed out.
