In their pledge, the prisoners swore to remain loyal to the Pancasila ideology and the 1945 Constitution and stay committed to protecting the nation from all acts of terrorism that could destroy Indonesia's unity.

The pledge is the end result of the deradicalization program spoken as a form of commitment.

This pledge also emphasized that prisoners involved in terrorism are willing to rebuild their life under Indonesia's framework, Aprianti remarked.

"By pledging their allegiance to Indonesia, the prisoners are ready to love the nation and collectively protect Pancasila by respecting differences," she noted.

They also understand that Pancasila is not just the foundation of the nation but also acts as a national ideology that unites the people, she stated.

They are also expected to exhibit proper conduct and act faithfully in accordance with their respective religions.

The pledging of allegiance to Indonesia marks the terrorist prisoners' return to the nation with the motto: Bhineka Tunggal Ika, or Unity in Diversity.

The deradicalization program through the pledge also involved the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), the military, police, Anti-Terror Squad Densus 88, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and other stakeholders.
