By pledging their allegiance to Indonesia, the prisoners are ready to love the nation and collectively protect the Pancasila by respecting differences.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Correctional Directorate General at the Law and Human Rights Ministry recorded that 122 terrorist prisoners had pledged their allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021.
"Pledging allegiance to the nation is one of the successes of the Correctional Technical Unit in deradicalizing terrorism prisoners," the ministry's official, Rika Aprianti, noted in a press statement here Saturday.
These prisoners comprise 68 people from the Gunung Sindur Prison, 13 from the Batu Nusakambangan Prison, nine from the Pasir Putih Nusakambangan Correctional Institution, and 32 spread out in other penitentiaries.

In their pledge, the prisoners swore to remain loyal to the Pancasila ideology and the 1945 Constitution and stay committed to protecting the nation from all acts of terrorism that could destroy Indonesia's unity.
The pledge is the end result of the deradicalization program spoken as a form of commitment.
This pledge also emphasized that prisoners involved in terrorism are willing to rebuild their life under Indonesia's framework, Aprianti remarked.
"By pledging their allegiance to Indonesia, the prisoners are ready to love the nation and collectively protect Pancasila by respecting differences," she noted.
They also understand that Pancasila is not just the foundation of the nation but also acts as a national ideology that unites the people, she stated.
They are also expected to exhibit proper conduct and act faithfully in accordance with their respective religions.
The pledging of allegiance to Indonesia marks the terrorist prisoners' return to the nation with the motto: Bhineka Tunggal Ika, or Unity in Diversity.
The deradicalization program through the pledge also involved the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), the military, police, Anti-Terror Squad Densus 88, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and other stakeholders.
