Jakarta (ANTARA) - Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister Abdul Halim Iskandar has called on his ministry to work even harder to achieve the performance target in 2022.

Iskandar noted that the ministry had delivered several achievements throughout 2021, such as success in implementing the merit system and the first rank within the SAPK Implementation and CAT Utilization Achievement within employee recruitment.

Internally, the Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) data collection program and the effort to direct villages to achieve the indicators in the Village SDGs showed remarkable progress, he noted in his written statement here on Monday.

"These achievements should not make us complacent, but they should motivate us to achieve a better result this year," the minister affirmed.

He expects the mistakes in 2021 to not be repeated in 2022. The ministry faces several minor issues that should be addressed this year.

For instance, there is a gap in comprehensive understanding regarding the direction of the village development policy and also pertaining to the leadership, state civil apparatus (ASN), and non-ASN level within the ministry.

"The weak capacity of the ministry's employee to collaborate is causal to the ambiguous and insecure nature of the ministry's position," he remarked.

"There are also those, who deem Village SDGs as only the ministry's project, despite the fact that this is the direction of the national policy in village development and the villagers' empowerment," he added.

Iskandar also emphasized that the ministry should commence the integrity and anti-corruption campaign movement and Village SDGs development direction campaign.

In addition, it needs to ensure that the border and outer regions become Indonesia's strengths and are free from the seeds of radicalism and acts of violence that could disrupt the nation's unity.

Moreover, at the start of 2022, there should be a comprehensive report on program execution, activities in accordance with each work units' tasks, and synergy between the ministry's internal staffs and with external parties.
