Semarang, Central Java (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has asked all regional heads of the 35 districts and cities in the province to ensure schools implement the health protocols during the implementation of limited face-to-face learning.

"I remind regions that have implemented 100-percent face-to-face learning to report and ensure health protocols are implemented well; (ensure) all teachers and students have been vaccinated," he said after a coordination meeting for COVID-19 handling in Central Java here on Monday.

High schools, vocational schools, and special needs schools will report directly to the provincial government, he informed. Meanwhile, he said he had asked district heads and mayors to handle elementary schools and junior high schools directly.

"I ask for continuous control and evaluation," he stressed.

He said that he was yet to receive detailed reports on how many schools in the province were implementing 100-percent face-to-face learning.

However, as per one report, around 100 schools, including high schools, vocational schools, and special needs schools, have implemented 100-percent face-to-face learning, he added.

"For elementary schools and junior high schools, so far, there is no report yet," he said.

He asked regional heads to strictly supervise the implementation of face-to-face learning at elementary schools because not all students have received the COVID-19 jab.

The governor also reminded district heads and mayors that 100-percent face-to-face learning should only be implemented in schools where students have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

"For elementary students, especially those aged 6–11 that have not been vaccinated, it is better for the face-to-face learning not to be implemented at 100 percent (capacity). My advice for kindergarten or elementary schools is not to implement 100 percent (face-to-face learning) yet," he said.
