I might have been stuck in an endless circle of povertyJakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Presidential Staff, Moeldoko, observed limited face-to-face learning activities at the Pandawai 1 State Middle School, East Sumba District, East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday.
During the event, Moeldoko attributed his success story as a national defense force general to education.
"Long ago, if I had not migrated to the city for high school, I might not have been able to enroll in the Military Academy and become a general. I might have been stuck in an endless circle of poverty," he stated, as quoted from a press release here on Thursday.
Moeldoko deems education as an important factor to build the nation, especially in the development of human resources.

"Mr President is very concerned about the development of human resources and places it as a priority program," he affirmed.
Moeldoko also compelled teachers and students to not give up easily in the face of challenges in advancing education.

"I understand that the teachers are worried about their employment status. I also understand the lack of infrastructure here, but I urge you not to give up in advancing education. This is because only with education can the condition of the nation change," he emphasized.
Based on the Presidential Staff Office's information, East Sumba District has a very high dropout rate. In 2019, the average length of schooling was only 7.5 years, or equivalent to the seventh grade.
