"Lack of communication between parents and children can affect a child's mental development," he noted here on Saturday.
Hence, parents should consistently strive to build intensive communication with their children amid their hectic schedules and daily activities.
Susilo reminded parents to play an active role in supervising various activities of children, especially in the current internet era, where information is easily accessible and can affect the child's mindset.

"If there is no supervision from parents, it is feared that negative aspects can affect the child's behavior. With supervision, communication, and closeness between parents and children, we can avoid negative behavior in children," he explained.
The psychologist emphasized that parents should also become good role models for their children in conducting themselves well and in accordance with the norms in society.
"Parents' behavior must also set a good example for children, as they tend to emulate their parents' behavior, both positive and negative. Make parents as the teachers at home," he remarked.
The active role of all parties, starting from parents at home to teachers at school, is deemed crucial, as children still need attention, so they do not take the wrong steps.

Speaking in connection with children's issues, Susilo noted that the Purbalingga Resort Police had opened a psychological counseling service.
"For people in need of these services, we will provide free counseling by visiting the psychology room of the Purbalingga Resort Police. Psychological services can be availed during working hours while still implementing health protocols," he stated.
