Jakarta (ANTARA) - The PeduliLindungi application will now provide an offline check-in facility, which will not require cellular data, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics announced on Saturday.

The ministry made the announcement on its official Instagram handle @kemenkominfo, saying PeduliLindungi users will be able to utilize the new feature after updating the app.

“Checking in with PeduliLindungi in public spaces, office buildings, or any other places just got easier with the Offline Check-in feature. Lack of connection is no longer an obstacle with this feature. Upgrade the PeduliLindungi application to be able to use this feature," the ministry posted on Instagram.

With the offline check-in feature, users will be able to use the application in public places even when not connected to the Internet, it explained.

The check-in feature allows the government to supervise and monitor people in public places, according to the ministry.

The app has been designed as a one-stop solution for vaccination data and tracking, it said.

The check-in feature of the PeduliLindungi app is currently being used at almost every public facility, from malls, hospitals, city parks, to other public places where visitors are required to check in via the app using barcodes, it added.

The feature also makes it easier for public space operators to check the COVID-19 vaccination status of visitors, and the app also allows the government to trace the potential spread of COVID-19, the ministry said.

There are four color codes (black, red, yellow/orange, and green) that indicate users' vaccination status when they check in using QR Codes on PeduliLindungi, it added.

Black means that the user has been confirmed positive for COVID-19 or has a history of close contact with COVID-19 patients, the ministry said. Visitors in this category are not allowed to enter public areas, it added.

Red indicates that the user has not taken a COVID-19 vaccine or has had close contact with COVID-19 patients, it said. Visitors from this category are also not allowed to enter public places, it added.

Yellow/orange codes indicate that the user has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and can enter public places after officers carry out further verification. Meanwhile, green indicates that the user has received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and is safe. Such users are, therefore, allowed to enter public spaces, the ministry said.
