Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The National Red Cross (PMI) offers booster vaccination service for the elderly every weekend in Tangerang, Banten, for which no ID card is required and simply registering on the spot would suffice.

Head of the Tangerang National Red Cross Oman Jumansyah in a statement in Tangerang on Tuesday, stated that booster vaccination for the elderly had commenced since last week on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time at the PMI Headquarters in Tangerang City.

"Hence, the public, especially those aged 60 years and above and having received the first and second vaccinations and met the requirements, can get the third vaccination at the PMI by registering on the spot during the weekends," he noted.

His administration distributed the third dose of vaccines for the elderly as part of the efforts to meet the vaccination rate set by the Tangerang Government apart from facilitating residents with the closest vaccination sites they could choose.

The brands of vaccines administered in the program are Sinovac and Pfizer. They also offer the first and the second doses of vaccine to the public.

Moreover, they offer vaccination service for both the first and second doses for children in the age bracket of six to 11 years. The people of Tangerang are expected to utilize this service optimally.

At the end of last week, the Tangerang National Red Cross had administered vaccinations comprising the first to third dose to a total of 1,241 people.

"Please come to the National Red Cross, as vaccination services are available," Jumansyah noted.

Head of the Tangerang Health Office Dr Dini Anggraeni remarked that the vaccination site established by the National Red Cross was the result of cooperation to facilitate residents in accessing vaccination locations.

The Health Office has also expanded the scope of vaccination by establishing more sites that offer inoculation, such as at public health centers and regional hospitals. Residents that had yet to be vaccinated should immediately visit the vaccine center, as it is also part of the efforts to stem the spread of COVID-19.
