The digital sector has become the backbone of pandemic recovery amid the continuing and growing landscape of global health in 2020-2021.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry lauded the cooperation between ASEAN member countries to implement inclusive digital transformation during the pandemic.

"The digital sector has become the backbone of pandemic recovery amid the continuing and growing landscape of global health in 2020-2021," the Ministry's Secretary General, Mira Tayyiba, noted through a press statement on Saturday.

During the 2nd ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN-2), the ministry observed a notable advancement in ASEAN to encourage economic recovery due to the pandemic.

Development of a digital ecosystem in the ASEAN became the key to recover the economy to become stronger and more comprehensive during the post-pandemic period.

"Digital adoption and ensuring digital connectivity for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and other communities affected by the pandemic is the means to achieving inclusive, empowering, and sustainable economic recovery in the ASEAN," she stated.

The ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework encapsulates the importance of an inclusive digital recovery.

Domestically, Indonesia applies holistic approaches using the 2021-2024 Digital Indonesia Road Map policy for an inclusive digital transformation.

This road map focuses on four priority sectors: digital infrastructure, digital government, digital economy, and digital citizens.

The government massively expands the 4G network to broaden internet access, especially toward the outer regions.

This expansion of internet access also aims to ensure inclusive connectivity.

Indonesia also currently develops the multi-function satellite SATRIA-1 to provide internet access in 15 thousand public facility spots.

The ministry is discussing several policies to bolster the digital ecosystem, such as through development of the National Data Center to support Indonesia One Data and Electronic-Based Government System.

Meanwhile, for honing economy and digital skills, the ministry has in place a MSMEs digitalization program and digital literacy training for over 12 million participants each year.

"All of this is in accordance with the vision that ASEAN member countries have within the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025," Tayyiba noted.

The government expressed its readiness to strengthen collaboration and cohesiveness between ASEAN member countries to achieve post-COVID-19 economic recovery.
