Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National and Innovation Research Agency (BRIN) and state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) have collaborated to develop a medium-altitude long-endurance (Male) unmanned aircraft and the N219 aircraft as well as its variants.

"In future, there should be no development program without involving PT Dirgantara Indonesia. BRIN has the capacity to support research and development activities," BRIN Head Laksana Tri Handoko noted in a statement received by ANTARA here on Monday.

Such collaboration is realized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.

Through the agreement, both parties are committed to synergizing for the provision of resources and competencies to support the development of the Male unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as well as the N219 aircraft and its variants.

Director of Commerce, Technology, and Development of PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Gita Amperiawan, remarked that the collaboration focused on the development of innovative products at the company for the upstream industry.

Some of the collaborations are national projects to be followed up with a Cooperation Agreement (PKS), including development of the Male UAV that will be flown once ready.

"We are ready to commit to becoming a reliable industry in conducting research and development in the aerospace sector,” Amperiawan remarked.
