"We are now pursuing to reach 5 percent young leadership in SOEs, even by 2023, it will be 10 percent," Thohir informed at the 2022 National Mass Media Convention in Jakarta on Monday.
Young leadership is important to help SOEs implement their programs and also to encourage leadership continuity and realize leadership standardization, he elaborated.
"Regarding leadership, we know that God gave extraordinary intelligence and mindset to human beings but for a limited age," he remarked.

Earlier, Thohir had said the target of installing 5 percent young SOE leaders aged under 42 had been successfully achieved in 2021.
The target was aimed at providing opportunities to Indonesia's young generation, he explained.
Thohir said that, as of November 2021, he has appointed a number of young leaders under the age of 42 at SOEs. The young leaders have occupied strategic positions as leaders of SOEs in Indonesia, the minister noted.
The younger generation of Indonesia should get the opportunity to lead SOEs and sharpen their skills, he said. However, the opportunity to lead Indonesia's SOEs must also be accompanied by qualified competence, he added.
A number of young leaders are currently occupying high positions in SOEs, including Soleh Ayubi, 38, the chief digital healthcare officer of PT Bio Farma (Persero), Thohir pointed out. Earlier, Ayubi, who holds a Ph.D. from Pittsburgh University, worked in the United States, he said.
Thohir also introduced Muhammad Fajrin Rasyid, who has been appointed as director of the state-owned telecommunication company Telkom. Rasyid previously served as the co-founder and president of Bukalapak, he said.
