We offer them discretionJakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) stated that school learning must be adjusted to the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in each region.
"The learning (mode) must take into account the children's health and the situation of COVID-19 transmission in the region. There must be an adjustment, especially for regions with level 2 public activity restrictions (PPKM). We offer them discretion," Secretary-General of Kemendikbudristek Suharti noted here on Monday.
Regions with level 2 PPKM are given the discretion to adjust face-to-face learning, from 100-percent student capacity to 50-percent student capacity.

According to Suharti, some areas are encountering no problem with COVID-19 transmission and continue to implement face-to-face learning at 100-percent capacity.
However, she stressed that the health protocols must continue to be implemented, and COVID-19 vaccination among teachers must continue to be revved up.
Suharti explained that regional governments can decide the learning modes they want to implement, be it face-to-face learning with 100-percent capacity, face-to-face learning with 50-percent capacity, or remote learning by referring to the instruction of the home affairs minister.

According to the Home Affairs Minister's instruction, regional governments need to ensure strict implementation of health protocols in academic units; conduct surveillance of COVID-19 cases and health protocol compliance; accelerate vaccinations for educators, education staff, and students; and ensure the temporary suspension of limited face-to-face learning based on results of epidemiological surveillance in accordance with the provisions in the joint decree of four ministers.
The implementation of face-to-face learning in regions with levels 1, 3, and 4 PPKM still follows the Joint Decree (SKB) of Four Ministers on guidelines for the implementation of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic that has been stipulated on December 21, 2021, and contains provisions that are adaptive to the PPKM level.
Kemendikbudristek also agreed to adjust the learning mode with the parents' decisions, which means parents can decide whether they want their children to partake in limited face-to-face or remote learning.
