Gorontalo (ANTARA) - Indonesia hinted that empowering rural women's economic inclusion is one of four strategic issues it will highlight at the W20 meeting, due to be held in Likupang Sub-district, North Sulawesi Province, on Feb 14-16.

Three other issues that Indonesia will highlight at the meeting are related to disability, health, and endeavors to stop discrimination, Chairperson of W20 Indonesia 2022 Hardiani Uli Silalahi said here Sunday.

Speaking at a virtual talk show to support the W20, G20, and Indonesia's G20 presidency, she said the four issues need to be discussed with delegates of the G20 member countries, including the USA, and United Kingdom.

As the official G20 engagement group focusing on gender equity, the W20 meeting is part of the G20's side events.

"W20 is not just a (regular) meeting. It must bring positive impact to development in Indonesia, particularly related to female human capital," she told participants of the talk show.

Besides Silalahi, Minahasa Utara District Head Joune Ganda and Kawanua Family Harmony (KKK) Head Ronny Sompie also spoke at the talk show, co-organized by the Indonesian Women's Congress (Kowani) and KKK.

Coordinating Minister for Economy Airlangga Hartarto believes that Indonesia's G20 presidency will bring benefits to the country, including synergizing with members of international community to boost the recoveries of its and global economies.

The G20 presidency would also enable Indonesia to have a voice in determining the directions of global economy after the COVID-19 crisis, including the ones related to the stability of international financial system, he said in a statement last year.

President Joko Widodo has appointed Airlangga Hartarto to chair the G20 Sherpa Track based on his letter No.12/2021 dated on May 27, 2021.

As disclosed by G20.org, the G20 is a strategic multilateral platform connecting the world's major developed and emerging economies.

The G20 holds a strategic role in securing future global economic growth and prosperity. Together, the G20 members represent more than 80 percent of world GDP, 75 percent of international trade and 60 percent of the world population.
