Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government affirmed that it will continue to provide social assistance of Rp300 thousand in cash on a monthly basis for children whose parents or guardians had died due to COVID-19.

"For 2022, the program will continue," Head of the Jakarta Social Office Premi Lesari stated here on Monday.

According to Lesari, the social office is currently readying the newest regulation for the social assistance program that had been earlier implemented in 2021.

The office head noted that the requirements for beneficiaries are those up to the age of 22 years, having a Jakarta ID number (NIK), and residing in Jakarta and whose parents or guardians have a NIK and reside in Jakarta.

The social assistance of Rp300 thousand per month will be halted if the beneficiary dies, changes his or her residence from Jakarta, uses the social assistance for inappropriate purposes, and gets married.

Of the figure, some five thousand children were still considered well-to-do and were not included in the social assistance program. Meanwhile, the rest 4,345 were recorded as assistance beneficiaries.
