Mataram (ANTARA) - Field Commander of the Mandalika MotoGP, Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto, outlined the travel bubble system that will be implemented for the 2022 MotoGP race.

The racing event is scheduled to take place at the Mandalika Circuit from March 18 to March 20, 2022.

"The regulation will not be different from the MotoGP pre-season test. We will apply a travel bubble system starting from their (racers') departure, their stay at the hotel, and in the paddock area," Tjahjanto informed on Monday.

However, there would be an increase in security, especially in the racers' paddock area, he said.

"Because the number of participants will increase from 500 to 2,500 people. Therefore, we must increase our security system and personnel as well," he explained.

The travel bubble will also be tightened in the hotels where the racing crews will stay, he said.

"We will conduct the travel bubble supervision with the help of the National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI)," he added.

To allow racers and their crews to visit tourist attractions, a special entrance has been prepared to separate them from regular visitors, he informed. This decision was made to protect both the racers and regular visitors, he said.

Meanwhile, head of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police, Inspector General Djoko Poerwanto, said that the MotoGP participants will undergo quarantine as part of the travel bubble.

"At first, they will undergo a five-day quarantine," Poerwanto informed.

He assured that the implementation of the travel bubble for the MotoGP event at Mandalika, Lombok will be better than the one enforced during the pre-season test, with the help of the related stakeholders.

"There will be improvements in our travel bubble system. It will be better than during the pre-season test. We want everyone to enjoy the race by still complying with the travel bubble. Later, we will discuss all the details," he added.
