"These human resources must have skills that are in accordance with the new era of tourism. They must have quality and sustainable tourism capabilities based on nature and culture," he remarked while inspecting the construction site of the Manado State Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar), in Kalasey Dua Village, Minahasa District, North Sulawesi, according to a press statement issued here on Wednesday.
The development of the polytechnic, said the minister, is meant to create quality human resources in North Sulawesi as well as stimulate the economy and create jobs.
The polytechnic will accommodate 2,500 students and is expected to become a center of excellence, or a center for the study and training of science and competence, he added.
Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, said that the Bali Tourism Polytechnic will supervise the development of the polytechnic in Manado.
"In the first phase, we will conduct distance learning while waiting for the construction of the building, and of course, the construction of this school is in accordance with the national policy for the development of human resources as a whole. So, we are also part of the national development of vocational schools focused on the tourism sector," said Adnyani.

Meanwhile, director of the Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Ida Bagus Putu Puja, informed that in the 2022 school year, the Manado Tourism Polytechnic will open study programs in accordance with the potential available in North Sulawesi.
The study programs that have been opened include the Convention and Event Management study program as well as the Hospitality study program, he said.
"Now we have formed a team and also compiled data and information related to the feasibility and quality assessment of universities. We will immediately submit the data to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as well as the Directorate General of Higher Education. Hopefully, by the middle of this year, we will be able to apply for it and get a permit," Puja added.
