Jakarta (ANTARA) - The COVID-19 Task Force's Health Support Sub Division Head Alexander K. Ginting urged all youngsters to help edify their parents about accessing various health services provided by the government.

At the Strategies for Facing the Third Wave of the Pandemic zoominar on Friday, Ginting noted that all citizens had begun embracing the digital culture.

However, not everyone was able to grasp how to access applications due to the differences in age and knowledge.

Several people born during the 1960-1970 period faced troubles in registering for vaccination, conducting check-in using the QR code, or entering several health data on the PeduliLindungi application, he pointed out.

As a result, several elderly just brought along data in the form of photocopies of the vaccination certificate and laboratory result. Such data then had to be re-validated manually by workers.

The same barrier was encountered in utilizing telemedicine services.

Several parents still encountered difficulties in registering themselves, thereby resulting in the delivery time of those medicines increasing in addition to the differing conditions on the road, he explained.

"What is important is that the public understands that the government has provided telemedicine services," he remarked.

The younger generations are also expected to provide information to their parents on the difference in medicine packages based on the symptoms that they experience.

In addition, parents should be edified about how to conduct self-isolation for asymptomatic patients and patients with mild symptoms as well as advise them to visit hospitals if the symptoms are moderate to severe or if they have uncontrollable comorbidities.

Lastly, they should register their parents or elders for vaccination.

Studying the digital application takes time, Ginting remarked.

However, given the differences among individuals, parties of various ages are expected to help one another, so that Indonesian people can follow the developments in digital culture without any hassles.
