There should be synergy and collaboration at every level, there should be understanding among areas and workers…
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has emphasized the need for synergy and collaboration among institutions for tackling issues and crises in Indonesia, ranging from food, infrastructure, and health.

“There should be synergy and collaboration at every level, there should be understanding among areas and workers. We should continue to uphold synergy and collaboration,” he remarked during the Finance Ministry’s coordinating meeting on organization and management here on Wednesday.

Synergy and collaboration can be implemented to meet any challenge as well as to improve the policies adjusted to the current conditions and development, according to the deputy minister.

In the past, only related institutions were responsible for tackling problems in their areas, he noted.

However, all ministries and institutions must help address issues nowadays, he said.

The Finance Ministry in the past did not take the issue of food into account since it was mainly under the purview of the Agriculture Ministry, Nazara said.

Currently, however, such issues need to be addressed by the Finance Ministry and state-owned enterprises in the food sector, he noted.

“For instance, food issues. We might think in the past that they were not in the areas of Finance Ministry, but now we can apparently explore such issues since the ministry focuses on many areas,” he pointed out.

This is because the Finance Ministry is responsible for allocating the state budget (APBN) for the Agriculture Ministry and the Marine and Fishery Ministry, he informed.

The Finance Ministry— through the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF), Budget Directorate General (DJA), and Treasury Directorate General— drafts and allocates the budget for the two ministries, he said.

Not only ministries, but SOEs in the food sector should also help address food issues, he added.

SOEs sometimes seek support in the form of State Equity Participation (PMN) and guarantees processed by the ministry through DJA, Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN), and Financing and Risk Management Directorate General (DJPPR), he said.

“If there is no synergy, we will lose our energy for improvement. Food is among the issues I illustrated, there are many other issues, such as infrastructure and health,” he remarked.
