Praya, Lombok Tengah (ANTARA) - Central Lombok's government notified about work on Water Treatment Installation (IPA) for the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) from Pengge Dam to Pengegat's main water reservoir having commenced and targeted for completion before Mandalika MotoGP.

"The installation of IPA for SPAM from Pengge Dam is being accelerated," Head of the Central Lombok Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Service Lalu Rahadian stated on Monday.

Rahadian noted that installation of the pipeline from the main reservoir in Pengegat Village to the Mandalika Region phase I had been completed in 2021. The Mandalika SPAM has a capacity of 50 liters per second from the 200 liter per second development plan to support development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) Tourism Destinations.

"The Mandalika SPAM will be built in stages according to the SEZ's water needs," he stated.

Rahadian also remarked that progress in the development of SPAM's pipeline in Pengge DAM had not yet been reported in detail, as the project was implemented by the central government directly.

However, the project is targeted for completion before the MotoGP to fulfill the water supply requirements during the race, he stated.

"For this initial stage, we will support 50 liters per second, while the rest will be done in the following year," Rahadian noted.

Earlier, Central Lombok Government's Secretary, Lalu Firman Wijaya, stated that construction of the new SPAM in Pengge Dam was aimed at meeting the need for clean water in the Mandalika SEZ and the five supporting villages in the area.

Budget for the Mandalika SPAM development project is sourced from the State Budget (APBN).

"Clean water management of Pengge Dam, with a capacity of 200 liters per second, will be divided into 150 liters per second for water needs in the SEZ and 50 liters per second for residents around Pengge Dam," he concluded.

The Mandalika SEZ will host the 2022 MotoGP racing event on March 18-20, 2022, at the Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok, NTB.
