Accelerate data validation for the quake victims and evacuees, as this is related to the assistance provisions for affected residents
Simpang Empat, W Sumatra (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy urged the local government or the West Pasaman Disaster Emergency Response Task Force to accelerate data validation for victims of the earthquake in West Pasaman, West Sumatra.

"Accelerate data validation for the quake victims and evacuees, as this is related to the assistance provisions for affected residents," Effendy noted while reviewing the evacuation location of the West Pasaman earthquake victims here on Thursday.

The minister remarked that the validation of data on earthquake victims must at least be completed before the end of the disaster emergency response period in West Pasaman, which falls on March 10, 2022.

According to the minister, the data will serve as the basis for plans to provide aid and to construct temporary housing for residents whose houses were damaged by the quake.

In addition to data on the residents' houses, Effendy called for accelerating the process of data validation on damaged infrastructure and public facilities.

Based on temporary data, the West Pasaman earthquake claimed the lives of six people. One volunteer was also reported to have died.

The earthquake was also reported to have damaged 3,094 houses, 29 places of worship, 33 schools, 10 health facilities, and five office buildings.

More than 11 thousand residents are currently staying in evacuation centers, as their houses were damaged, and they were apprehensive about aftershocks.

On the occasion, Effendy urged that the requirements of all evacuees be fulfilled, especially their basic needs, such as food and water.

"From the results of the review, I saw that the assistance was already provided. However, it is necessary to synchronize the data of evacuees at each (evacuation) location, so that (data of the) number of people there will be in accordance with the needs," he remarked.
