Right now, 234 Indonesian migrant workers are being treated at RSKI on Galang Island.Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - As many as 632 Indonesian migrant workers are undergoing COVID-19 quarantine in Batam city, Riau Islands province, in accordance with the health protocols, after arriving from Malaysia, an official said.
Chief of the Batam City Health Office Didi Kusmarjadi said on Saturday that 157 of the 632 migrant workers are quarantining at BP Batam flats, 244 at Batam City Administration's flats, 97 at Putra Jaya flats, and 134 are conducting self-quarantine.
“The self-quarantine is at a hotel designated by the military," he informed.

Based on the rules, Indonesian migrant workers who arrive in Batam are obliged to take COVID-19 tests, he informed. If they test negative for the coronavirus, they need to undergo quarantine before continuing their trip to their destination, he said.
However, if they test positive for COVID-19, they need to undergo medical treatment at the Special Infection Hospital (RSKI) on Galang Island, he added.
"Right now, 234 Indonesian migrant workers are being treated at RSKI on Galang Island," he informed.
With the addition of migrant workers at the hospital, Batam residents who have been exposed to the coronavirus are being treated at other hospitals, he said.

Currently, 64 foreign nationals, who have arrived from Malaysia and Singapore, are also undergoing self-quarantine at hotels in Batam, he added.
