This issue is closely related to the second and third priorities proclaimed by the ministry at the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG), which are digital literacy and skills as well as data flow across national borders, he said here on Tuesday.
"Illegal trading or investing is one form of digital-skill challenge nowadays. It needs to be a concern of the world countries," Permadi, who also serves as co-chair of DEWG, remarked.
Good literacy and digital skills are very important today as they can minimize problems of illicit trading and investments, he said.
"So, one of the key solutions to protect against illegal businesses and investments is to increase digital literacy," he stressed.
To that end, he said, Indonesia is proposing basic principles and values for digital literacy and proficiency.
In addition, Permadi also highlighted that Indonesia is focusing on personal data management, with advanced and safe governance, for people across countries during its Presidency of the grouping.

So far, he said, there is no data protection system at the global level. For this reason, Indonesia has proclaimed basic principles that need to be adopted by G20 countries, which are transparency, validity, justice, and reciprocity, he said.
"These four principles that Indonesia has proposed should become a joint value and understanding for G20 countries in managing data, especially personal data," he said.
The Digital Economic Working Group (DEWG) Forum strives to broker global agreement on building an inclusive digital ecosystem.
"Literacy here means that we should have the understanding and knowledge on how to protect ourselves and our personal data," the ministry’s secretary general, Mira Tayyiba, said.
