According to the Home Affairs Minister Instruction Number 17 of 2022 issued on March 21, 2022, five regions in East Java are implementing Level 1 PPKM—Surabaya city, Mojokerto city, Tuban district, Mojokerto district, and Lamongan district.
Meanwhile 26 regions are implementing Level 2 PPKM, namely Tulungagung district, Trenggalek district, Situbondo district, Sidoarjo district, Ponorogo district, Pacitan district, Ngawi district, Magetan district, Madiun district, Malang city, Malang district, Kediri city, Blitar city, Batu city, Kediri district, Bondowoso district, Blitar district, Banyuwangi district, Sumenep district, Sampang district, Probolinggo district, Pasuruan city, Pasuruan district, Jember district, Gresik district, and Bojonegoro district.
Furthermore, seven regions are implementing Level 3 PPKM—Lumajang district, Probolinggo city, Madiun city, Jombang district, Pamekasan district, Nganjuk district, and Bangkalan district.
"Every district and city should make the acceleration of the second and booster vaccinations a priority. Maximize the existing vaccine stock. This is important to increase community immunity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the second dose of vaccination will be the reference for determining the latest PPKM level," the governor stressed.
The first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Indonesia in March 2020. According to data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of March 22, 2022, Indonesia has recorded a total of 5,974,646 COVID-19 cases, 5,639,029 recoveries, and 154,062 deaths.
Meanwhile, East Java province has so far recorded 569,874 COVID-19 cases, 534,411 recoveries, and 31,194 deaths, as per the task force’s data.
