Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women20 (W20) strives to push for global commitment in a bid to support equal health access.

Through a press statement on Thursday, Indonesia W20 Chair Hadriani Uli Silalahi stated that W20's mission is to form a commitment to eradicating discrimination to advance economic inclusion for women Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In addition, bolster access for women villagers and women with disabilities and integrate equal health response.

During the W20 side event themed "Promoting Health Response to Recover Together Equality," she noted that during the pandemic, several health services were affected, both in terms of access and quality.

Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Gender Equality Deputy Lenny N. Rosalin noted that this became one of the challenges for women and families to access health services throughout the pandemic.

"Women, with their role as mothers, are very important and strategic in handling the COVID-19 pandemic within families," she remarked.

"In this abnormal situation and condition, women are urged to be able to not only take care of themselves but also to ensure their families' health," she affirmed.

Every family member can play a role in preventing the spread of COVID-19 within families, especially mothers and women.

"The support from every member of the families became the key for women's success in breaking the chain of COVID-19 infection within a family," she stated.

"Every family member has equal responsibility to be able to collectively implement family health protocols and to equally distribute domestic tasks," she remarked.

The ministry that became the Mother Ministry for W20 has conducted various COVID-19 prevention and handling efforts, specifically for families, women, and children.

The ministry has synergized with ministries or institutions, civil organizations, academicians, and the business world to mitigate the issue.

It is also done in line with the expectations of the 2022 Indonesia G20 Presidency, specifically to conduct women's empowerment to rebuild a better, more equal, and inclusive future.

The ministry cannot act alone but requires cooperation with all stakeholders to continue to synergize and collaborate in realizing this expectation.

"By continuing pentahelix synergy and collaboration, the W20 primary mission in women's empowerment and gender equality agenda as well as the W20 special mission to realize a fair health response can be achieved," Rosalin remarked.
