One of the examples is obtaining intellectual property rights (HaKI) for village inventions
Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration cooperated with Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) to support community empowerment, especially in disadvantaged villages.

This cooperation was realized through the inking of a cooperation agreement at the ITS campus here on Wednesday.

Head of Development and Information of the Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Agency, Ivanovich Agusta, remarked that the collaboration with ITS, especially in the field of Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is able to support the ministry in developing village technology.

"One of the examples is obtaining intellectual property rights (HaKI) for village inventions," he noted.

Agusta pointed out that a lot of knowledge and innovation in villages had yet to be certified.

This led to inequitable distribution of technology in villages that caused several of them to remain underdeveloped.

He expounded that one of the benefits of collaborating with universities, especially ITS, is that universities have advanced technological developments and innovations, so they are easy to be applied in the community.

ITS Deputy Chancellor IV Bambang Pramujati stated that through the collaboration, ITS would utilize existing data and technology to develop formulas and indicators to measure the achievement of Village SDGs.

In addition, ITS readies village empowerment strategies, so that village innovation and development can run well.

The deputy chancellor also remarked that after finding the formula, an evaluation would be conducted to determine the pertinent innovations and solutions to be applied to villages.

Pramujati is optimistic that the cooperation would generate programs that support the empowerment of villages, for instance, in planning and administration, so that no village would be left behind.

"I am optimistic that through this cooperation, ITS would be very capable of helping to empower villages," he emphasized.
