Becoming a winner requires a great process since nothing is instant.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry (PANDI) has launched indonesiabangga.id, a website that contains a directory of outstanding athletes who have made Indonesia proud at international competitions.

The web page is expected to serve as a reference for sports in Indonesia and inspire future generations to make better achievements, deputy head of business development, cooperation, and marketing at PANDI, Heru Nugroho, said, according to a press statement issued on Thursday.

The Indonesia Bangga (means “Indonesia Proud”) directory program has been supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

As part of the launch of the website, a "Culture of the Archipelago" webinar was also held.

The webinar featured a number of senior Indonesian athletes, such as Tan Joe Hok, Yayuk Basuki, and Ivana Lie.

"Athletes have sacrificed their playful childhood for the glory of the nation by working hard. It is a value which can be taught to the younger generation. It is not only on how to become champions, but also on how they (the athletes) thrive to get the achievement," Anton Sanjaya, a senior sports journalist who was present as a resource person at the webinar, said.

Former senior Indonesian tennis player Yayuk Basuki said that it takes more than just great skills to become a champion: one also needs a superior mentality.

"Becoming a winner requires a great process since nothing is instant," she remarked.

Voicing a similar sentiment, former Indonesian badminton player Ivana Lie said that to become a champion, it is important to not only win matches, but also work hard.

"Success is gained by persistence. It must become character. Thus, an athlete must have a strong mentality to overcome stress, pressure, and failure," she added.
